Tell your parents! (or just use it yourself)

I am a member of Canadian Parents for French. Their website is very large and rich in information. A lot of the links are helpful for students and parents interested in French Immersion and late French Immersion. You can also use the website to investigate French camps, French contests and French exchanges.

If you are interested in resources that can be used to practice French or complete projects, you might also look here:

More research links for your animal project

Here is a new link you can explore which has all kinds of quality links, including links for researching animals. Try looking here for a list of links, divided by category at FSL with M. Renaud. Good luck with your project!

When the project is over, you will find all kinds of activities and game links on the main site for M. Renaud. I think you will find this is a good site for enrichment and entertainment.

Resources - Les Animaux

Grade 8's are doing an animal project which may be a solo presentation or a debate. To research this topic, students should make one printout from a french language Internet source. The source should be very basic and aimed at children, not adults. The school website is one place to start. It has links to a couple of French encyclopedias for students. I also looked around the web and found this site with lots of animal links. Take a look around and see if you can find your favorite animal.

Can you make a recommendation? -- Contest

I always tell my students to use this site as a jumping-off point to find review activities and enrichment on the Internet. There are so many possible activities that I think some students don't know where to start. That's why I'm running this contest.

I will give bonus marks to one student in each of my grade 4, 6 and 8 classes who creates the very best list of recommended online activities for that grade. Use my link list as a starting off point.

Do you Mango?

Welcome back to Churchill Hts. I'm sure 2010 -2011 is going to be a great year! This blog is for my grade 4,6 & 8 classes this year. Check out the links at the side for sites to improve your French, games to play and places to help with grammar.

The Toronto Public Library has a new language learning partner. Mango is a system where you can learn French (or many other languages) online at your own pace. If you are an independent learner, you might like it.

Check it out at Mango. You will need to sign in with your library card to use this service.

French during the summer vacation

Are you worried you will lose your French over the summer? Are you looking for a new challenge or some enrichment? There are a lot of podcasts to help you learn French which start from beginner to more advanced. Search on iTunes under audio podcasts and try a few out. You can preview the podcast to see if you like it before you subscribe. When you find the one you like just click on the subscribe button. If you have an iPod or similar, you can listen on the go but you can also listen to podcasts from any internet connected computer. If you don't have iTunes, you can download the program for free at: apple.com/itunes/
